`NEW GOVERNMENT CITY TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN, OGUN, NIGERIA
Ogun State was created in 1976 and is in South-Western Nigeria. The state is named after the Ogun River which runs right across it from north to south. Ogun State is strategically located bordered to the east by Ondo State and to the north by Oyo and Osun State. The objective of this study is to create the New Ogun Government City Administration. This New Ogun Government City Administration will replace the old Government city.
The primary study area covers part of Abeokuta South City area with approximately 6,400 hectares of land area. The proposed Ogun State New Government City is alongside Siun – Abeokuta Road (which is part of Abeokuta – Sagamu Expressway).
The main objective of this study is to focuses on the transportation study where has been categorised into three (3) stages, namely: The formulation of Transportation Network Development Concept Plan based on the proposed Land Use Development Concept Plan; The formulation of an in-depth study on the proposed Private Vehicle Transport Network and potential Public Transport Alignment within the Study Arany diffeeea; and the formulation of Highway Network Infrastructure Development Plan.
An EMME traffic model has been developed to undertake necessary planning, design, construction and maintenance of the study area’s road network, which is aimed at meeting the prevailing traffic flow, future traffic growth and loading without considerable deterioration in the quality of service.
